phew...

Wow, my year mark is next week! Strange. I went to the immigration office today to get my visa renewed so it's official, I'm staying here until August 28, 2008. After that.... I'll have to get back to you.

My last couple of months were rough. I had some conflicts at work and a heavy schedule (11 classes a day some days)! I also had to get a new job and find a place to live. On top of that Al had work problems that were giving him a lot of difficulty as well. But it looks like things are on the upswing for both of us (let's hope)! My new job starts Monday, Sept. 3. I don't know my exact schedule yet but it looks like I'll have evening classes which is great because that's when Al works too, it would be a bummer to work opposite schedules. I only have 15 hours of class time a week- down from the 38 I've been working! All of my students are already English speakers; I'm not teaching them English, I'm teaching them presentation skills. It'll be great! Hopefully I'll have time for language classes and research in the mornings. :-)

In the last week of September is Chusok, Korean Thanksgiving, so we'll have a well-timed vacation. Maybe we'll go to Jeju-do? A tropical island south of Korea. We'll see.

Wish me luck next week!

Gangchon Getaway

Phew, I needed a vacation. We just had a five day weekend, but it was well timed. Work has been crazy and will stay that way until my last day, Friday August 31. Then, I'll start at my new job that following monday!

Al and I went to Gangchon for a few days. It's only a two hour train ride from here. It's a nice little mountain resort town with skiing in the winter and water sports in the summer. We ended up not doing any water skiing or rafting but hiked up through a park to a waterfall and did some fourwheeling. It was a fun town to bum around in. I put bunches of pics on flickr. Other than that I just relaxed! yay.

Nothing else new, hope all is well with you!
